Recalibration…

“Splash”, 2005

It is with a bittersweet heart that I share with my friends and followers my decision to close Ladybughill.com.  Seventeen years ago, isolated in a small town with a toddler and newborn, craving connection and a creative energy outlet, I created Ladybug Hill Mosaics to sell my original mosaic art for the home decor and floral industries and to share mosaic art tutorials and resources for mosaic artists.  The internet was a very different place back then and looking back, I am very proud of my efforts as self-taught Webmaster.  I created a great online business and blog before blogging was commonplace.   My participation in the mosaic art community led to an opportunity where I could make a greater impact when I was asked to be the first Executive Director of the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) in 2005.

Since then, I have allowed Ladybug Hill to remain live, sharing the information in my written “Behind the Mosaic” tutorials and working one-on-one with mosaic artists all over the world on their technique and creative process.  While the demands of SAMA have always taken priority, the rewards in taking on what many consider a thankless job have been enumerable.  Lifelong friendships, incredible collaborative achievements with SAMA’s Board of Trustees and volunteers and the blissful bonus of being able to do it all from home while raising my sons.  I couldn’t be more grateful for my “thankless job.”

Our SAMA team is hard at work on many new goals, and I am still inspired to continue to facilitate the transformation of generosity, expressed by volunteers and donors, into a meaningful collaboration which inspires, educates and promotes excellence in mosaic art. I invite you to explore SAMA’s offerings at AmericanMosaics.org and discover for yourself the magic of mosaic art!

As I continue to serve SAMA , I am also creating a new separate space for my personal projects, writings, and creative coaching here at DawnmarieZimmerman.com.  Last year, turning 50 was a culmination of several events in my life which have all lead me to embrace the beauty, freedom and grace of letting go of the grip on my past, so that my palms remain open to catch all that is possible in the future.  Releasing Ladybughill.com is both a symbolic and literal release so that I can create the “bandwidth” to focus on new creative opportunities!

Stay tuned as my new venture evolves!  In the meantime, head over to Instagram and follow my daily posts and occasional stories while I work here behind the scenes!
